Stream the new Beats Antique album Elektrafone - make sure to buy it if you like it!

Many great things about this album, but one of the most important things to note is the fact that everything was created by using just his voice, a guitar and a delay pedal - pretty damn impressive - check out his performance on Later….With Jools Holland if you’d like to see what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K0fLVZuiYk

Herbie Hancock has been making music since 1961, and a lot of songs have emerged as classics , but I thought I would pick a lesser known album to share with everybody
This album precedes Future Shock that gave us Rockit, and while it doesn’t have any “major hit” on it (I Though It Was You charted in the UK), it’s still a great summer listen
- I Thought It Was You (Hancock, Melvin Ragin, Jeffrey Cohen)
- Come Running To Me (Lyrics By Allee Willis)
- Sunlight
- No Means Yes
- Good Question

So I’ve basically been listening to everything David Ball & Richard Norris the last couple of weeks
Here’s another project that Richard Norris has been involved with called Time & Space Machine and their only album so far (besides a couple great EP’s) called Set Phazer To Stun:
- Time And Space
- Path Through The Cathedral
- Set Phazer To Stun
- You Are The One
- Children Of The Sun
- Zeitghost
- Infinite
- More Cowbell
- Midsummer Night
- Mushroom Family
- After The Gold Rush
- Trip Sideways

The Grid are an English electronic dance group consisting of Richard Norris and David Ball (formerly of Soft Cell)
This is their debut album from 1990 entitled Electric Head
It’s pretty solid, and it flows from track to track - if you’re a fan of straight instrumentals, Side One has you covered, while Side Two offers 80’s-esque vocals to compliment each track:
SIDE ONE
1. “One Giant Step” – 6:11
2. “Interference” – 0:34
3. “Are You Receiving” – 4:32
4. “Islamatron” – 3:33
5. “The Traffic” – 0:14
6. “Driving Instructor” – 4:40
7. “A Beat Called Love” – 4:01
8. “The First Stroke” – 0:13
SIDE TWO
1. “Central Locking” – 0:41
2. “Intergalactica” – 6:10
3. “Beautiful and Profound” – 0:10
4. “This Must Be Heaven” – 4:15
5. “Machine Delay” – 0:09
6. “Doctor Celine” – 3:45
7. “Typical Waterloo Sunset” – 0:14
8. “Strange Electric Sun” – 4:19
9. “Floatation” – 5:06

Death From Above 1979 are finally getting back together to play the sold out Coachella and a bunch of other shows I’m sure, so let’s all rejoice!
But did you know that Sebastien also has a side project? (Jesse is half of the electronic group MSTRKRFT)
Sebastian Grainger & The Mountains is a lot different than one might expect from the usual screaming vocals of DFA1979 (go figure since it’s a side project), but it’s still great nonetheless:
- Love Can Be So Mean
- Who Do We Care For?
- By Cover Of Night (Fire Fight)
- I’m All Rage (Live ‘05)
- I Hate My Friends
- (Are There) Ways To Come Home?
- Niagara
- (I Am Like A) River
- Love Is Not A Contest
- American Names
- Meet New Friends
- Renegade Silence (Feat. The Rhythm Method)
- Map Of The World

Meet Carl Peczynsk, aka sadnes
Rather than try to summarize my own description of his music, here is a direct quote from his page:
“sadnes is an exploration of self, and a coming to terms with prior occurences. Two parts early 90′s Seattle and one part Famicom. Here are 6 tracks that will make you wish ripped jeans and messy hair were back in style. It’s time to hate your parents.”
If that doesn’t convince you to want to listen, check it out for yourself:
- Little Did You know
- Underwater
- Take You Out
- Fill My Head
- Wicked Game (Chris Issak Cover)
- For Your Health

He also covers Bittersweet Symphony and Novocaine For The Soul
